| Rise in food prices sends inflation to 18-year high |

June 18 2008 The rise in food prices has pushed inflation up to its highest in nearly 18 years. Meat and bread were up 9%, fish and veg up by 7%, and milk, cheese and eggs up by almost 20%. The cost of living is now the highest since 1990 with half of the increase because of food prices leading to big increases in the number of shoppers visiting discount chains such as Lidl, Aldi and Netto.Click here to read the full article |
