Government takes fresh look at GM crops |

June 19 2008 The global food crisis has persuaded Gordon Brown that the time is right to reconsider the role of GM crops in the UK. They have been grown in the US for years but there is only one trial in Britain, of GM potatoes in Cambridgeshire. Environmentalists reacted angrily to these suggestions - Friends of the Earth said "Growing GM crops also threatens wildlife and the production of GM-free foods. What's more, some GM crops could allow more pesticides to be used." Click here to read the full article
